Atkins Slimming Recipes

There are many slimming diets that can be found in the market today. Some of them work effectively while others will not have any effect on your health. Atkins diet is a low carbohydrate diet designed by Dr. Atkins to enable our body in losing weight in a natural way by changing our metabolism and eating habits. Slimming diets such as Atkins reduces carbohydrates intake and replacing it with protein and essential fats.

Atkins slimming diet has a total of 4 essential phases in which the first phase are required to consume carbohydrates up to 20 grams per day only. The second phase can include carbohydrate diet up to 25-30 grams per day. In the third phase, 10 grams carbohydrate increase is made each week to promote pre maintenance. The last phase of this diet is considered as the maintenance phase in which you can consume any kinds of foods as long carbohydrate intake is controlled.

While other medical practitioners are recommending high carbohydrates and low fat diet are the best, Dr. Atkins thinks otherwise. The doctor also suggested that if we can trim down our carbohydrate intake, our body will utilize fat as an alternative use for energy or fuel of the body.

The following foods are acceptable to Atkins Diet:

  • Protein rich foods such as meat, fish and eggs have only a small part of carbohydrate.
  • Vegetables are also allowed in the Atkins slimming diet. Only 12 to 15 grams per day should come from vegetables
  • Natural fats are recommended for this diet. Fish can be consumed, peanut, canola, grape seed oil, mayonnaise, butter is all allowed on this diet.
  • Cheese may be acceptable if it is only taken for 3 to 4 ounces per day.

 

There are a lot of slimming recipes available on the internet and books. Some of them are proven while other our just home made. It is important to consider the sources of each recipe to verify the information are valid and safe.

Recent studies and researches shown that Atkins slimming diet will not only help on reducing body weight but it can also improve our heart condition. Actually, a person on Atkins diet has a larger decrease in triglycerides level and larger increase in HDL level than the person on low fat diet.

There are many kinds of recipes for low carbohydrate diet that can be use everyday. It is important to remember before trying any of these slimming diets to consult the information first with your doctor.
