Almost every one of us has heard about the importance of break fast in the daily diet. Why is it so important and what is the relation of breakfast to weight loss? Well, breakfast is a simple term which says all about itself in one word. You are breaking the fast, which you willingly or forcibly imposed upon your self for the previous 8-12 hours. There is a huge number of the general population, which skips this very important meal of the day, from the daily diet altogether. Probably it is one of the reasons for the increasing incidences of Obesity in the world.

When you eat break fast you are providing adequate fuel and energy for the body to function normally, and are helping to give the body a good head start. When you skip break fast you are depleting your body from its fuel supply for a total of 16- 17 hours, since the last meal at the previous day’s dinner.

When you offer food after starving the body for such a prolonged period, the natural inherent tendency of the body is to over eat and over stock on the supply, in an attempt to stock up resources until the next supply is received. This is how the body thinks.

The results are seen as excessive eating during the lunch hours, and resultant excessive pile up of calories which get converted in to the body’s favorite fuel stock- FAT. So indirectly it only means that, by skipping breakfast from your daily diet, you are actually encouraging your body to store fat away in anticipation of a fuel shortage for another prolonged period of time.

Okay, so enough has been said about the dangers of skipping breakfast from your diet. Let us now have a brief look at the healthy items that could be included in your daily diet at breakfast time.

The best choices for a healthy breakfast are oatmeal, whole grain cereals, fruits, eggs, nuts, low fat milk or yogurt, fruit juices and bagels etc. You can use a daily chart system to keep changing your breakfast menu so that you do not get bored of eating the same old stuff, day in and day out.

By keeping a weekly breakfast diet plan, you can ensure that you waste minimal amount of time in thinking and planning over the menu, and utilize the extra time in sitting down and enjoying your healthy breakfast.
