You must have heard a lot about anti-oxidants but a detoxification diet such as the lemonade diet may be new to your ears. The lemonade diet simply uses concoctions of lemonade to rest the digestive tract and to drive off toxins from the body. This diet has been reported to be helpful in losing weight and also in cleansing a person’s body. It is a diet that consists of a 10 day plan, where a person will have to follow a rigid regimen each day.

The first thing that you will have to do every morning, while on lemonade diet is to accomplish salt water flushes. The salt water flush is done everyday to facilitate bowel movement every morning. This is done by drinking a mixture of a teaspoon of salt with 750-1050 ml of warm water.

After you do the salt water flush, you will have to drink the special concoction, which is the hallmark of the lemonade diet. This is the most essential part of the lemonade diet since it is only the concoction that you will have for a total of 10 days. You have to take in at least 6 glasses of the concoction per day or have it every time that you are hungry. No other foods or even supplements can be taken in during the day.

The concoction of the lemonade diet consists of lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and distilled water. It is important that you choose the unprocessed and organic versions of these ingredients for your lemonade diet as the lemonade concoction will have to be as natural as possible. You have to get all the vitamins and nutrients that these ingredients include, to be able to achieve the full effects of the lemonade diet.

The last thing that you will have to do in the lemonade diet is to drink a laxative tea. You must take not that the tea must not contain caffeine and you must drink it before going to sleep. It helps in detoxification while the body repairs itself during your sleep.

Strict compliance to the rules of this diet is needed or else there are side effects that you might encounter. Caution on the lemonade diet is given to people who have accompanying chronic diseases such as hypertension or kidney failure. Although the lemonade diet can do much for your health as it is all natural, you must still consult your physician before going through it since not everyone can remain on a liquid diet for a long time.
