3 Day Diet Review
Quick Overview:
The 3 Day Diet’s name speaks for itself – it only lasts for three days. There is a very specific eating plan associated with it and afterwards, you have to take a break for 4 to 5 days before you decide to go back on this diet. The food you are allowed to eat amounts to no more than 1,000 calories each day, which results in up to 10 lbs of weight loss over the period of 3 days.
Background:
The 3 Day Diet was first discovered in 1985, but no medical establishment or author claims its ownership. However, this diet promises fast weight loss results, which is why it remained popular for over two decades.
You will find many online testimonials from people who say that this is the only diet that has worked for them. However, you have to be wary of returning to your old eating habits when you go off this diet; if you do not change what you eat, the weight is likely to return.
How it Works:
There are claims that this diet uses its unique chemical balance to produce a special reaction with your metabolism. This helps your body break down food faster and burn more calories – thus allowing rapid weight loss. Others say that simple caloric reduction is solely responsible for fast shedding of the pounds. In either case, with an overwhelming number of testimonials all over the Internet, it’s pretty much a given that you will lose some amount weight on the 3 Day Diet.
Food:
Each of the three days you are allowed to eat a very specific amount proteins, fats, carbohydrates, sweets, fruits and vegetables; you also have to drink 4 glasses or water or no-calorie drinks (even soda!), coffee and tea. Some of the popular diets tend to limit what food you can and cannot eat, while allowing unlimited consumption of permitted items. This diet, on the other hand, sets strict limits on portion size along with restricting which items can be eaten.
Here are some examples of food that you are allowed to eat: grapefruit (or juice), apple, melon, toast, peanut butter, tuna, lean meat, green beans, carrots, vanilla ice-cream, an egg, banana, cottage cheese, saltine crackers, beef franks or hot dogs, broccoli, cabbage and cheddar cheese.
Support:
There are numerous online forums which discuss the benefits and share success stories of the 3 Day Diet. This diet is not meant to be followed for more than 3 days at a time; therefore it mainly remains popular off-line, where friends share it with one another via word of mouth.
Exercise:
Exercise is not included in this diet as an essential activity; therefore it’s left up to individual discretion. Since this diet significantly restricts caloric intake, and exercise burns a lot of calories, it’s best to consult with your health care provider as to whether it’s a good idea to exercise while you are on the 3 Day Diet.
Behaviour:
The 3 Day Diet significantly reduces the amount of carbohydrates in your diet. When you consume less carbohydrates, your body naturally retains less water (i.e. weight). It can be said that weight loss from water is one of the key factors responsible for the amazing results that can be achieved on the 3 Day Diet.
Research shows that even though you can quickly lose weight during the three-day period, if you return to unhealthy eating habits immediately after this diet plan, the weight is very likely to return. Therefore, healthier food options are recommended to sustain these results long-term.
Who is this Diet For?
This diet is considered safe for everyone, but is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women; people with poor health conditions should consult their doctor before trying out the 3 Day Diet.

- Fast weight loss – up to 10 pounds in 3 days
