Healthy Diet for a Healthy Heart

A good diet is the foundation for a healthy life. The healthier foods we eat, the more immunity we develop, to resist diseases. A balanced diet is what we should focus on. Balanced diet means eating fruits, vegetables and other substances which have vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrate and fats in correct proportions. As it goes for our body, we also need to maintain a healthy diet for a healthy heart.

Correct proportions vary from person to person; so balanced diet is a personal secret known to that individual alone. We need not necessarily consult any doctor or dietician for knowing the composition. It is inbuilt. For example, when we eat something which does not suit us; our body shows it in the form of disease or an allergy. Therefore, by trial and error basis after a certain time period we get to know what suits our body best and what not. Moreover, we know our energy needs and should eat accordingly. Overindulging of any kind leads to obesity, the greatest enemy of our heart.

The human heart

Human heart is a marvellous and a very delicate organ. Marvellous in the sense, that it pumps blood daily several hundred of miles inside our body to various organs; through veins and arteries. Delicate in the sense that such a powerful pump is made of decomposable tissues, which are prone to diseases, as well.

Therefore, it is our duty to eat a healthy diet for a healthy heart.

Fats and Cholesterol

Foods containing high fats and cholesterol are very dangerous for the heart. The cholesterol tends to form plaques, which sometimes block the arteries and veins, and prevent blood flow to that particular area, resulting in degeneration of that organ. A well known example of this is coma caused in the brain due to blockage of blood to the brain.

Salt

Over intake of salt too is dangerous. The salt gets deposited in the arteries causing an increase in blood pressure and the heart has to work harder in order to pump blood against that pressure. This in turn, causes early degeneration of heart. It is obligatory to keep our daily diet free of excess fats and salt, to avoid heart related diseases.

Fibres

Fibres form an integral part in the diet pattern. You may wonder why fibres are so essential. The fibres help ease the bowel movements and keep the metabolism of the body in a healthy state. Diet less in fibre leads to constipation, a condition in which bowel movements cease, and it becomes very difficult to dispose our faeces.

Our body is the integration of all these chemical compounds which run our internal bio-machinery. In order for these to work perfectly we need to eat a diet which supplement each one of the chemical compounds.

So remember the mantra; healthy diet for a healthy heart.
