  Elimination Diets are often prescribed by doctors to rule out food allergies. In such diets, any food which may be suspected of causing an allergy or intolerance is completely removed for a duration of 4 days to 3 weeks, until symptoms go away. The Elimination Diet depends on the severity and type of symptoms and may range from moderately to severely restrictive in the amount of foods allowed.
