voted by: Kris QuigleyAccording the OECD - www.oecd.org - in 1989 the percentage of the population that was considered obese i.e. had a BMI of over 30 stood at 12.7%. This figure has climbed sharply to 18.8% in 1997 and soared to 26.5% in 2007 which is latest data available.
