After laser liposuction you will need to wear a compression garment for two weeks. The first week it will need to be worn all day, 24 hours a day, and the second week it will only need to be worn during the day. You will be bruised and swollen for a few days. Each person recovers differently from this. It is also worth pointing out that for the first 24 hours you will experience some leakage from the incision points but this is completely normal.
No, this is not suitable for anyone. For laser liposuction to be effective you ideally need to be within two stone of your ideal weight. It is not a procedure to lose weight but helps shape the body and works best on smaller stubborn areas of localised fat. If you are thinking of having this procedure you should also have a healthy BMI (Body Mass Index).
Laser liposuction is a method of fat removal that uses a laser to help melt the fat under the skin. It is very similar to traditional liposuction in the fact that fat is broken down and then suctioned out of the body but the laser makes the process a lot easier and is also said to encourage skin tightening so it gives a firmer looking result. It is also known to have faster healing and recovery times as a local anaesthetic is used as opposed to general.
It really depends what you are trying to achieve. Diet and exercise is always a good thing to try first before any surgical procedures are considered. If you are looking to tighten your skin a tummy tuck may be needed, or you may want to consider laser liposuction that can remove the fat and also is known to tighten skin. If you have a significant amount of weight to lose then liposuction may not be suitable at all and you may wish to consider some for of bariatric surgery such as a gastric band or balloon that will reduce the amount of food your stomach can hold.
Laser liposuction is a more modern technique that uses a laser to help melt the fat, making it easier to be removed from the body. It is a delicate technique and can only be performed on smaller areas of stubborn fat and only a couple of areas can be treated at one time. The fat is removed from the body using suction, just like it is with traditional liposuction. The main difference between the two types is the laser and the fact that laser liposuction is performed under a local anaesthetic while with traditional liposuction you need to have a general anaesthetic. The recovery periods are also quite different, as it does take longer to recover from traditional liposuction.
Liposuction is cosmetic surgery procedure that actually removes fat from the body using a cannula (thin tube) and suction. It is key to understand that liposuction is not a procedure to make you lose weight. It is not for overweight people. In actual fact it is for people of an average healthy weight that have stubborn areas of fat that won’t shift.
Scars from liposuction are usually very small, about 2-3 millimetres. If laser liposuction is used the scars will be smaller. They will fade and usually be barely visible at all. It is important that after any procedure you keep your scars covered and completely out of the sun.
Liposculpture is a less invasive form of liposuction that targets smaller areas of stubborn fat. It is performed under local anaesthetic and only small incisions are made. As this is less invasive the recovery period is a lot quicker compared to traditional liposuction but it is worth noting that not everyone is suitable for this type of fat removal.
