  If they are not to fat but have a little extra meat on then then yes you shouldn't put them on a diet because my son was a little chubby at about 12 and he used to wear husky pants but once he hit his growth spurt he thinned out alot and now wears slim pants

  Not trying to be mean hear but he should lose about 10 or 15 lbs you should sign him up for track and swimming they will help him lose most of his body fat and gain lean muscle

  As we get older we tend to lay down fat which is more difficult to shift in mid-age and beyond. But ask yourself how active were you as a teenager? Most likely you are more sedentary now than you were in your teens. Did you change your eating habits since you were in your teens.Are you eating more fast food or ready made meals when you come home after a long day's work? Analyse the amount of physical activity you carried out in your teens and compare that to what you are doing now. For example, you may take the car to go to work and return in the evening. In your teens you would have most likely walked to and fro school. So if you can't weight lose, look at the changes you can make in your chosen lifestyle and increase your activity level
