Obesity is truly a dangerous situation, when considered from the medical point of view. Being Obese denotes that you are at a higher risk of developing many chronic disorders affecting many of the Vital organs like the Heart, Kidneys, Brain, Pancreas etc. In addition the cosmetic effects too cannot be ignored and severely or morbidly obese individuals have to face a lot of ridicule due to their unsightly appearances. Extremely obese individuals can develop huge amounts of fat in the breasts too, and this is irrespective of the sex. Mammoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that aims at removing the excess deposit of fat from the breasts.

Mammoplasty is classified under cosmetic surgery, but is more often than not a necessity and usually complements other weight loss surgery procedures like Liposuction. When a weight loss surgery is being performed on the body, it is not feasible to leave the huge amounts of fat that has accumulated within the breast, untouched. This explains why this particular Cosmetic surgery needs to be a part of the regular weight loss surgery.

But many a times, it may happen that the individual has a normal or moderate body frame. The breasts may be the only part of the body with excessive deposit of fat, and may look quite gigantic when compared to the rest of the body, making it look asymmetrical and totally out of context. Such huge breasts found naturally are described by the term Macromastia, and such folks may also opt for this cosmetic surgery.

Mammoplasty is not limited to women, and men who have big breasts also need this kind of cosmetic surgery. This particular condition is known as Gynecomastia, and may or may not accompany weight loss surgery. This is because men can develop fat in the breasts, due to many medical conditions, like Liver disorders, hormonal disorders etc, and need not be always accompanying general body Obesity.

The usual cost may vary from surgeon to surgeon and definitely from nation to nation, but an approximate cost range is between $3000 and $10,000. In general the effects of Mammoplasty are permanent, but as it is just fat deposition, any general gain in body weight or any disturbance in hormonal levels can always lead to re-enlargement of the breasts, and possible need for repeat surgery.

The after effects of Mammoplasty are quite similar to the other weight loss surgery procedures, and swelling, bruising, numbness etc may be experienced.
